An injectable treatment blocks the nerve signal to the sweat glands in the treated area. It is not a cure and it wears off, but for six to twelve months the area stays dry.
Botulinum toxin is approved in New Zealand for severe underarm sweating that has not responded to clinical strength antiperspirants. Other areas are assessed individually at consultation and we do not advertise them.
Both sides treated in one appointment. A grid of small injections after the area is numbed.

Prescription medicine. Botulinum toxin injections are prescription medicines for the treatment of frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes. The same medicine, used differently. It is injected into the skin of the underarm rather than into a facial muscle, and the dose is larger because the area is bigger.
Most people get a large reduction rather than nothing at all. It takes one to two weeks to take full effect. If it is not enough at the two week mark we can add to it.
It is possible and it is called compensatory sweating. It is uncommon and usually mild. Tell us if it happens, because it changes what we do next time.
Six to twelve months for most people, which is longer than facial treatment because the muscle is not involved. Many people book once a year, before summer.
